SKILLS – Four Methods to Improve Your Time Management

  1. EISENHOWER MATRIX – Structure the topics you’re working on or what you want to work on based on urgency and importance. This framework helps you to improve productivity, prioritization and eventually time management.
  2. PARETO PRINCIPLE – Also known as Pareto Rule this method specifies that 80% of consequences come from 20% of the causes, asserting an unequal relationship between inputs and outputs. If we transfer this to e.g. sales, 20% of all customers could lead to 80% revenue.
  3. POMODORO TECHNIQUE – High-intensive working in 25 minute intervals followed by a 5 minute break. After four intervals, proceed with an extended break between 15 to 25 minutes. It is important that you really focus on what you’re working on and avoid any distractions.
  4. TIMEBOXING – You open your calendar and enter a block of time that you’ll spend on a certain task in the future. Instead of working on the task till it’s completed, you proactively decide on how much time you want to invest to get it done.

Be aware that not every method works for every task or situation. However, it is important that you know these methods and use them to your advantage. We all only have 24h in a day, thus use them wisely.
